The Helen Keller Institute for the Visually Impaired (HIVI) is a registered voluntary charitable organization founded in 1992 at Shoranur by a group of philanthropists led by Sri. K. Ramakrishnan and Dr.V.Anandmohan. Our motto, "Service to humanity is service to God", guides our commitment to the cause of people with various disabilities and the socially deprived.
We strive to breakdown social barriers and provide opportunities for disabled people to integrate into the societal mainstream as self-reliant, contributing members. Today, the Institute manages more than six life-changing projects, serving over 2500 PWDs from semi-urban and rural areas.

Our six pillars of empowerment cover education, training, and socio-economic rehabilitation. Free admissions, boarding, lodging, and medical facilities are provided for those aged 18-60 years.
Mobility and Orientation, Braille Coaching, and Open School Educational programmes for S.S.L.C, +2, TTC & B.Ed. Vocational Training and Cottage Industrial Training are core components.
Running a Braille library and transcription centre. Our Audio Digital Library produces talking books for easy access to information for the visually disabled.
Organizing placement services in Govt. and Pvt. sectors. We provide adjustment training and counselling. Self-employment assistance of Rs. 15,000/- is given to 10 beneficiaries annually.
Spreading our services to 130 villages, supporting over 2000 disabled people through awareness creation, economic rehabilitation, and community group organisation.
Our Residential Centre cares for 60 varied challenged inmates, offering a supportive environment for training and overall development.
